All students are contracted to complete a 1500 hour program in the course of Cosmetology. The following subjects will be covered in Practical and Theory during the course of study. Students will spend their first 300+ hours in CORE classes and the remaining 1200 hours on the clinic floor in all phases of the Cosmetology course of study.*

We use Pivot Point: Salon Fundamentals Curriculum -- Salon Fundamentals sets the standard in hair and beauty education.

 

The required curriculum for cosmetology students is as follows:

1500 Hours of training, of which at least 300 hours is in theory, distributed as follows:

Manicuring (95 Hours) to include:

     Manicures (including water, oil, hand and arm massage, paraffin wax treatments and polish)

     Pedicures (including foot, ankle, and lower leg massage, parafin wac treatments, and polish)

     Application of artificial nails (including sculptured, nail tips, nail wraps, fills, repairs, tip overlays, fiberglass, gel and acrylic)

     The use of manicuring implements including the electric nail file

Esthetics (110 hours) to include:

     Skin care (including facials, cosmetics, makeup, massage, essential oils)

     Skin exfoliation (including manual, chemical and mechanical exfoliation)

     Waxing and tweezing

     Electricity and light therepy

Hair Styling (195 Hours) to include:

     Shampoo (including scalp treatment)

     Pin curls, finger waving, thermal curling, blow dry styling, braiding , back combing, and wet styling

Hair Cutting (155 Hours) to include:

     Proper use of implements, i.e. shears, razors, clippers, thinning shears, etc

Chemical Services (395 Hours) to include:

     Hair Color, hair lightening, perming, and relaxing (ammonium thioglycolate, sodium hydroxide methods)

Salon Management (115 Hours) to include:

     Business methods, customer service, appointment book, professional ethics and current state board laws and rules

Chemistry, Bacteriology, Sanitation, First Aid Disease Disorder (60 Hours) to include:

     Safety, sterilization, anatomy, physiology, blood spill procedure, diseases and disorders of hair, scalp, skin and nails.

Instructor Discretion (375 Hours)

     Shall be at the discretion of the school, provided that the hours are withing the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.
